Youth Soccer Month Giant Jersey Tour Launches this September

US Youth Soccer will kick off the national celebration of Youth Soccer Month on September 1, with the Youth Soccer Month Giant Jersey Tour. The tour features a 15-foot-tall inflatable soccer jersey and will travel around the country to promote the benefits of an active, healthy lifestyle while collecting gently worn soccer equipment to aid those less fortunate. KANSAS GIRLS WIN REGION II ODP TOURNAMENT!!!

92G ODP Champs

The 1992 Kansas Girls Olympic Development Program (ODP) team made Kansas State Youth Soccer Association (KSYSA) ODP history in DeKalb, Illinois in July by winning the Region II ODP Championship!  The team is the first in Kansas ODP history to advance to the ODP National Championships, which will be held in March 2009.  

Members of the 1992 Kansas ODP Girls Team are:  Kaitlyn Atkins (Olathe), Kara Bartels (Olathe), Madelyn Buckner (Overland Park), Carly Cassady (Lenexa), Ashley Cattrell (Overland Park), Allison Dillon (Lansing), Kylie Greischar (Overland Park), Emily Harper (Ft. Leavenworth), Mallory Monhollon (Topeka), Heather Nelson (Prairie Village), Shannon Renner (Overland Park), Sarah Shaughnessy (Overland Park), Frances Silva-Leon (Overland Park), Amanda Spade (Holton), Carly Stanley (De Soto), Ashley Washburn (Overland Park), Haley Yearout (Overland Park), and Hillary Yoder (Lawrence).  The team is coached by Tim Collins, Washburn University head coach (Topeka) and Jessica Smith (Olathe). 

The US Youth Soccer ODP Region II Championships occur every July at the Regional ODP Girls camp. Region II is comprised of 14 state soccer associations in the Midwest.  The state winners of the Regional tournament earn the right to participate in the US Youth Soccer ODP National Championships the following March.

The US Youth Soccer ODP National Championships bring top male and female youth players in the United States to match skills with one another. State ODP teams compete in each of US Youth Soccer's four regions for the chance to participate in the annual National Championships tournaments. ODP identifies and develops youth players throughout the country to represent their State Associations, Region and the United States in national and international competition. Players are selected on the basis of open tryouts.

The US Youth Soccer ODP National Championships spotlight the future U.S. Soccer stars, and allows exposure to national team and college coaches. The US Youth Soccer National Championships occur each year in March. Two age groups of male and female teams participate each year. The state team from each of the four regions of US Youth Soccer that won their Regional ODP Championship earns the right to attend the US Youth Soccer ODP National Championships.

KSYSA RULE 5.2.12 - SUSPENSIONS/SEND OFFS

Any coach who is ejected from any competition shall remain under suspension until the penalty is served with the team the coach was coaching when ejected; provided, however, the coach is not charged with referee assault or abuse, in which case USSF policies 531-9 and 531-10 shall apply.  If after seven (7) days and the penalty has not been served, the coach may be allowed to coach other teams to which (s)he was rostered at the time of the ejection provided payment of any associated fines has been satisfied.  In addition, for the first ejection in any seasonal year the coach shall be assessed a fine of not less than Seventy Five Dollars ($75.00) to be collected by the competition authorities and paid to KSYSA; for a second ejection in any seasonal year  the fine shall increase to an amount not less than One Hundred and Fifty Dollars ($150.00) to be collected by the competition authorities and paid to KSYSA; and, for a third and any additional ejection(s) in any seasonal year  the fine shall increase to an amount not less than Three Hundred Dollars ($300.00) to be collected by the competition authorities and paid to KSYSA.  A failure to pay the fine within seven days of the ejection shall result in the coach remaining under suspension until such time as the fine is paid.  Nothing in this rule precludes the competition authority from imposing additional penalties and fines beyond those provided by this Rule (Amended November 11, 2007).

Each year, Kansas Youth Soccer pays tribute to outstanding soccer people by selecting someone for the Kansas Youth Soccer Toyota President's Award. This award acknowledges the efforts of a special soccer person who goes the extra mile for the sport and has a positive impact on the development of soccer in his or her community.

US Youth Soccer Creates Public Service Announcement to Help Spread the Message of Good Health | Learn More | Watch Video
US Youth Soccer created “Get Out and Get into the Game” public service announcement to encourage children to be more active and adopt healthier habits. The PSA has already started airing on the Fox Soccer Channel, a US Youth Soccer partner, and will start airing on other outlets nationwide this month. The PSA shows kids playing a game of soccer against a team representing common bad behaviors: Obesity, Soda after Soda, Too Much TV and Junk Food.

U.S. Soccer Foundation Announces 2006 Grants,
Benefiting 31 Groups, Including Twelve All Conditions Fields Grants
Kansas State Youth Soccer Association Awarded $100,000

WASHINGTON, DC – The U.S. Soccer Foundation, the Major Charitable Arm of Soccer in the United States, today announced that it has made funds available to 31 separate groups nationwide, in 18 different states, as part of its 11th annual grants program cycle. In total, the Foundation’s grants will make more than $1.7 million dollars available in the current year.  Through its history, the Foundation has awarded over $21 million to soccer groups and facilities through its annual grants program.  Since 1995, the organization has made over $40 million available for the growth of the game of soccer through grants and other financial support.The Foundation, through its partnership with NikeGO, awarded 12 All Conditions Fields grants for the construction of full-size soccer fields that can be used around the clock, no matter the weather.
